Deadline Extended- Register and Propose a Presentation for the Upcoming SHAFR-Miller Center Workshop on Public Engagement

Monday, May 8, 2017 - 9:00am

Registration Deadline extended to May 15!

SHAFR is excited to be partnering with the Miller Center to offer a two-day workshop on public engagement that seeks to incorporate a variety of current communication  strategies, including Facebook, Twitter, op-eds, podcasts, and TED talks.  The conference organizers are soliciting proposals for presentations as well as accepting workshop registrations.

The workshop is intended to provide an opportunity for historians of U.S. foreign relations and international history more broadly to consider ways in which we might play a larger role in public conversations about the United States and the world. In addition to highlighting the challenges and opportunities associated with greater public engagement, the workshop will allow attendees to experiment with different formats and strategies for communicating with various audiences in ways that more effectively align our expertise with an evolving media landscape.

The workshop is on the Monday and Tuesday directly preceding the SHAFR Conference--June 19 and 20.  Affordable on-campus housing and grants are available for those who are interested in attending but who lack financial support from their institutions.  Registration is FREE, and meals are provided on Monday night and on Tuesday morning and afternoon to those attending.
