SHAFR MEMBERSHIP APPROVES BY-LAWS REVISION IN REFERENDUM (November 8, 2008)
By a vote of 163 YES to 2 NO, the membership of SHAFR approved proposed revisions to the By-Laws that create a new Ways & Means Committee, clarify its membership, and empower it to discuss and recommend to Council various issues pertaining to programs and expenditures.
SHAFR Events at 2009 AHA Meeting (October 22, 2008)
SHAFR is hosting the following events at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association in New York City in January 2009. Please plan to attend:
(1) Luncheon: Saturday, January 3, 12:15-1:45 pm, Hilton Hotel, New York Suite.
Vincent Warren, Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, will deliver a keynote address entitled "The First 100 Days: Putting the Constitution Back Together Again." The Bernath Dissertation Grant and the Gelfand-Rappaport Fellowship will be awarded.

SHAFR TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL SUMMER INSTITUTE (Sept. 30, 2008)
The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations will hold its second annual Summer Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on June 29-July 3, 2009. Fredrik Logevall of Cornell University and Jeremi Suri of the University of Wisconsin-Madison will co-direct the Institute, titled “Turning Points in the Cold War.” The Institute is designed for college and university faculty and advanced graduate students, with priority this year being given to the latter group. The Institute will pay each participant an honorarium of $500 and cover expenses of travel and accommodations. Click here for a Call for Applicants.
SHAFR 2009 CONFERENCE SCHEDULED (July 7, 2008)
