Catherine Forslund

Catherine Forslund graduated from University of Illinois, and earned her Ph. D. from Washington University in St. Louis. She has been teaching at Rockford College since 2000. Forslund previously served on the Myrna F. Bernath Book and Fellowship Committee and currently serves on the SHAFR Teaching Committee and the Stuart L. Bernath Dissertation Grant and Lawrence Gelfand-Armin Rappaport Fellowship Committee. She is author of Anna Chennault: Informal Diplomacy and Asian Relations (Scholarly Resources Press, 2002). Forslund has contributed to the Encyclopedia of the Cold War, A Historical Dictionary of Sino-American Relations, and East Asia and the United States: An Encyclopedia of Relations since 1784. She has presented at numerous SHAFR and AHA conferences and recently received funding awards from the White House Historical Association and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. She was awarded the Excellence in Teaching and Campus Leadership Award in 2004. Forslund is currently working on a manuscript entitled We are a College at War: Young American Women fight World War II, and her next project is Edith Kermit Roosevelt: Victorian Modern First Lady to be published in the Modern First Ladies series by University Press of Kansas.
